City Set To Turn Down Chance To Sign 52M Rated Spanish Star Despite Guardiola Being A Massive Fan

Manchester City will not enter negotiations to sign Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz, despite the Spaniard being made available for transfer, according to reports in Italy.

The Partenopei have slapped a €60m (£52m) asking price on the 25-year-old but, despite manager Pep Guardiola being a keen admirer of the player, the Citizens will refuse to start talks.

It all stems from when Chelsea signed Jorginho from Napoli in 2018. City believed they had an agreement in place to sign the midfielder, only for the Serie A side to renege on the deal and allow the Italian international to sign for the Blues instead.

The Premier League champions have since held indirect discussions with Napoli about signing Kalidou Kouilibaly but they eventually opted to snap up Ruben Dias from Benfica instead.

In terms of where Ruiz could end up. Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have been suggested as possible destinations, while Liverpool are also said to be interested.
