City star admits he misses former club

Manchester City defender Danilo has admitted that he misses playing football in Spain with Real Madrid, but is determined to make the most of his opportunity at the Etihad.

Danilo joined the Sky Blues on a 5 year deal for around £27m this summer, rejecting the chance to join Chelsea in favour of City. However the Brazilian has been shy of regular football so far, and has seen midfielder Fabian Delph picked ahead of him to cover for Benjamin Mendy’s injury at left back.

The 26-year-old did play a big part in City’s game against Wolves on Wednesday night though, and will hope for more of the same in the Premier League.

In an interview with Spanish radio station Cadena SER, Danilo admitted he misses his former club though – but insisted ‘you have to turn the page’, perhaps insinuating that he wants to focus on getting himself as a regular at City.

“The truth is that I miss Real Madrid,” he said.

“I spent two incredible years there, winning important trophies and people there always treated me with respect.

“But you have to turn the page.”

Should Danilo play more for Manchester City? 9 appearances isn’t all too bad so far this season, but Guardiola clearly doesn’t fully rate him as a first teamer.
