Manchester City midfielder Ikay Gundogan is just one of five Premier League midfielders Barcelona are looking at signing when their contract expires next summer, according to Sport.

Gundogan’s current deal runs out in June, but Chelsea pair Jorginho & N’Golo Kante, Liverpool’s Naby Keita and Leicester’s Youri Tielemans are also in the same situation.

At the moment, it is not known who Barca have made their number one target, but it is believed that Jorginho has already been offered to the La Liga side, while talks with Kante’s representatives have been ongoing for several months.

The report doesn’t go into detail about the pursuit of Gundogan but the player himself has given no indication that he is close to signing a new deal with City.

It has been claimed that the Premier League champions are reluctant to hand the 31-year-old a lengthy contract extension and that could lead to him leaving the Etihad at the end of the season.
