City Star Reportedly Demanding £100k A Week Wage Rise To Match De Bruyne

Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling is demanding a £100,000 a week increase in his salary, according to reports.

The 23-year-old’s current deal expires in 2020, but the former Liverpool player wants his wage to match that of the club’s current top wage-earner Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian international signed a new deal at the start of the year worth £342,000 a week, including bonuses, while Sterling is believed to earn £175,000 a week currently.

City are said to be mindful of Financial Fair Play rules, and it is reported that the England star has been offered a deal similar to De Bruyne’s with a high amount of performance-related incentives.

It is believed the Manchester club will look to stagger Sterling’s pay rise over the course of his contract to avoid sanctions from UEFA, including incremental wage increases between 2019 and 2021.

Sterling has scored twice in three Premier League fixtures so far this season but he did not feature for England during the international break due to a back injury.
