Manchester City centre-back Eric Garcia is on the verge of signing a five-year contract with Barcelona, according to reports in the Spanish media.
The move looked to be on the verge of collapse earlier this month after it was claimed that Barca had reduced their salary offer to the defender, leading to doubts over whether the player would accept the new terms.
At the time, it was said that both Arsenal and Chelsea were keeping tabs on Garcia’s situation, with the 20-year-old’s contract set to expire at the end of the season.
The London clubs were reportedly interested in snapping up the centre-half on a free transfer if he decided against accepting the offer on the table from Barcelona.
However, it now seems as though Garcia and the Catalan club have come to an agreement, and it is expected that the player’s move to the Camp Nou will be announced shortly.
