City Table ‘Best Offer’ For £97.5m Rated Argentine Hitman But CL Ban Is Proving Major Obstacle

Manchester City have made the “best offer” for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, according to Sport. Both Chelsea and Barcelona are also keen on the forward but the Citizens are said to have put together the best financial package for the Argentine.

Pep Guardiola’s side and Chelsea are said to be willing to pay the 22-year-old’s €111m (£97.5m) release clause, offering in excess of €10m a season in wages, although money is not believed to be the priority for the player.

Martinez is said to be more interested in a move to Barcelona for sporting reasons, even though the Catalan club won’t be able to match the finances offered by the two Premier League sides.

Sport claim that City could well have been an option but their current ban from the Champions League means it is unlikely that the Argentinian international would want a switch to the Etihad Stadium at this current time.
