Manchester City are keeping tabs on Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak, according to reports in the UK.
The Citizens have made signing a number nine a top priority next summer and, while Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland is the number one target, backup options are being looked at.
There is likely to be fierce competition for Haaland’s signature, considering he is available for (€75m) £63m, and if they do miss out on the Norwegian international, City don’t want to be left empty-handed.
Isak has been linked with Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal over the past twelve months and the 22-year-old is seen as one of the most promising young strikers in Europe.
The Swedish international did, however, sign a new contract last year, with his release clause now set at €90m (£75m). It would make him a slightly more expensive purchase than Haaland.
Other players, such as Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, are also being monitored, and it remains to be seen which forward ends up moving to the Etihad.
