City Tipped To Make Surprise Move For 33.5M Rated Juventus Star Who Nearly Joined Arsenal In January

Manchester City may consider making a bid for Juventus midfielder Arthur, according to reports in the Italian media.

It is believed that Ilkay Gundogan’s contract situation is the catalyst for the club’s interest in the Brazilian international, with the City star having less than a year remaining on his current deal.

There is a chance that the two players could switch teams, with City paying around €40m (£33.5m) for Arthur, while Gundogan could be sold to Juve for €30m (£25m).

Arthur has been linked with a Premier League club pretty recently. Arsenal tried to snap him up on loan back in the January transfer window but a deal fell through after his club couldn’t find a replacement There will be no such problems for City if Gundogan moves in the other direction.

It should be pointed out that Arthur is six years younger than Gundogan, whilst he is very comfortable playing in a possession-based team, so he could well be a good fit for Pep Guardiola’s style of play.
