City Try To Beat Arsenal As They Make First Move To Snap Up 19 Year Old Defender

Manchester City have “made an enquiry” for FC Midtjylland defender Ousmane Diomande, according to the Daily Mail.

The English tabloid claims that the Citizens have been impressed with the 19-year-old’s displays during a loan spell with Portuguese side CD Mafra this season.

Diomande has made sixteen appearances since making the switch to Portugal in August, with fourteen starts in total, including two domestic cup matches against Porto.

The second match versus Porto, in the Allianz Cup group stage, was pretty notable as Diomande helped second-tier Mafra secure a famous 2-2 draw.

Such performances from the Ivorian have not gone unnoticed by other teams either. Scouts from Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon have also been keeping tabs on him.

City have made the first move to secure Diomande’s signature, though, and we shall have to wait and see whether they can find an agreement with Midtjylland before the transfer window slams shut next week.
