“City Will Strike…” Pundit Boldly Predicts That Guardiola’s Side Will Seal 110M Transfer Ahead Of Chelsea

Manchester City are likely to make a “huge” bid for RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol, according to pundit Tam McManus.

Reports suggest that the Croatian international is likely to cost in excess of £100m and McManus has backed the Premier League champions to tie up a deal for the defender:

“The fee I have seen is £100m or £110m, something like that – a monster fee. He is a very, very good defender and he’s only 20. He’s coming off the back of a good World Cup, so I think City will strike when the iron’s hot. It will be a huge outlay but he looks like an outstanding player. I was really impressed when I watched him.”

Manchester United and Real Madrid have also been linked with Gvardiol but most believe that City’s main rivals for the player’s signature will be Chelsea.

Back in the summer, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that the Blues had a €90m (£78m) rejected for the 20-year-old before the centre-half opted to sign a new contract.

Graham Potter’s side have, though, maintained an interest in Gvardiol and they also have a good relationship with the Croatian’s club, Leipzig, after recently agreeing a transfer for Christopher Nkunku.

It means that if City do firm up their interest in the defender, they will need to make sure their proposal is too good to turn down.
