City ‘Win Race’ For England U16 Starlet As They See Off Competition From Premier League Rivals

Manchester City are expected to sign AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper Spike Brits this summer, according to the Secret Scout.

The Twitter account, which is known for providing reliable information on transfers of youth players, claims that the Citizens are expected to “win” the “race” for the 15-year-old’s signature:

Brits has also been linked with Manchester United, Tottenham and Brentford in recent months, but City are said to have pushed hard to secure the young shot-stopper’s services.

As the Secret Scout mentions, the teenager has already trained with AFC Wimbledon’s senior team, despite his young age. He has also been called up for England at Under 16 level.

City have an extremely strong youth setup, with the likes of Phil Foden and Rico Lewis having progressed to become regular starters in recent seasons.

They have also loaned out a number of talented young players this season, with James McAtee and Tommy Doyle both having success at Sheffield United, whilst Callum Doyle has excelled at Coventry City.
