City’s Move For £36m Rated Portuguese Star Stalls Over Player Exchange

Manchester City’s move for Juventus fullback Joao Cancelo has stalled over the Italian club’s refusal to take Danilo in part-exchange, according to Sky Sports.

The Citizens want to offer €40m (£36m) plus the Brazilian for the right-back, but Juve want a straight cash deal.

Cancelo is valued at €60m (£54m) by the Serie A champions, and it seems the two sides are quite far apart in terms of their valuations.

The Portuguese international only joined Juve from Valencia for €40m last summer, but the Italian side are keen to cash in after just one season.

Cancelo has already been excluded from new coach Maurizio Sarri’s pre-season training plans. The former Chelsea head coach has reportedly approved the 25-year-old’s sale if City make an acceptable bid.

The Manchester club are continuing with talks, but after recently securing Kyle Walker to a new contract, it does seem surprising that the Premier League champions are pursuing another right-back.
