Club President Confirms City Have Yet To Meet Valuation For 81M Rated Senegalese Star

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed that the Serie A side have yet to receive an acceptable offer for centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

There were claims in Italy last week that Manchester City were closing in on signing the defender after tabling a €70m (£63m) bid for the 29-year-old but, speaking on Italian radio, De Laurentiis revealed no progress had been made on the player’s sale:

“Without a great offer, he does not move”

Koulibaly has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Manchester United this summer but City are the club who are believed to be leading the race for the Senegalese international.

Whether the Citizens will come up with an offer that is acceptable to Napoli, it remains to be seen. It is thought the Italian club are holding out for at least €90m (£81m) which is a sizeable number considering the player’s age.

Napoli are, though, under pressure to sell as they need to free up funds to sign other players this summer.
