Former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore believes that Manchester City are almost certain to win the Premier League title for a third season in a row.

The Citizens started the new campaign with a convincing 5-0 win over West Ham, and he believes that Pep Guardiola’s side have the strength in depth to beat rivals such as Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea:

“They didn’t even play that well and still won 5-0 away from home [against West Ham]. They have an astounding amount of quality thanks to some very good recruitment.”

Collymore thinks the only way that City will slip up is if they take their eye off the ball and don’t perform at their best:

“The only thing that will stop them winning the league by six to 10 points will be themselves if, for whatever reason, they take their foot off the gas.”

After accruing 198 points over the past two seasons, it’s hard to see past City as being the firm favourites to lift the league title in May.

As Collymore says, the quality of players at Guardiola’s disposal is unrivalled, and if they continue to play to the manager’s exacting standards, you cannot see another team managing to overtake them in the battle for top spot.
