Copa America’s ‘Best Player’ Is Being Targeted By City But Deal Will Only Happen On One Condition

Manchester City are lining up a deal for Dani Alves, according to reports in the Brazilian media.

There has been speculation that the 36-year-old is also on Arsenal and Tottenham’s radar but the fullback is said to be keen to link up with former manager Pep Guardiola.

Alves was close to moving to the Etihad Stadium two years ago but he opted to move to Paris Saint-Germain instead.

He is, though, a free agent once again, and despite his age, he is in a rich vein of form. The defender was recently named the player of the tournament at the Copa America.

City’s move for Alves does, however, hinge on another Brazilian leaving the Premier League champions. Danilo will have to be offloaded for any deal to go ahead.

The same issue led to City’s move for Juventus’s Joao Cancelo stalling, and it remains to be seen if the ex-Real Madrid fullback will be sold before the end of the transfer window.
