Cundy Backs Claim That City’s 2018 Side Was Superior To Arsenal’s “Invincibles”

talkSPORT presenter Jason Cundy believes it can be argued that Manchester City’s 2017/18 side is superior to Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ of 2004.

Speaking on his phone-in radio programme with a Gunners supporter earlier this week, Cundy insisted that the team with the highest points tally in Premier League history should be rated as the best:

“I’m saying to you that you’re not [the best team]… The side with the highest points total ever, you could argue is the best side the Premier League has ever seen and that’s Man City.”

Considering they also won the FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield that season, there is some weight behind the claim that Cundy makes.

Of course, as a former Chelsea and Tottenham player, Cundy’s opinion is unlikely to be unbiased but, even so, it is good to see that the 2018 team is being given some recognition.

Whether any team will be able to win all four domestic trophies again, we shall have to wait and see. Pep Guardiola‘s team are still competing on all fronts both domestically and in Europe so they could go close to matching those achievements this season.
