De Bruyne speaks out after row with David Silva

Manchester City have been on red hot form so far this season, looking unstoppable as they top the Premier League table as well as topping their Champions League group.

Man of the moment Kevin De Bruyne has been hailed as one of the best in the world in recent weeks, but many will have been worried to see him angrily snap at City captain David Silva in front of the TV camera’s during their win over Napoli on Tuesday evening.

City ran out 2-1 winners thanks to early goals from Raheem Sterling and Garbiel Jesus, as well as a penalty save from goalkeeper Ederson. But a potential dampener on the result came at half-time, as TV cameras captured De Bruyne attempting to speak with the fourth official before being pulled away by Fernandinho and Silva.

Silva was shown trying to calm the Belgian, saying ‘leave it’ to De Bruyne – but the Belgian angrily replied ‘let me talk’ before he turned towards the tunnel in frustration.

However, when asked about the confrontation after the game, the 26-year-old played down any potential bad blood between himself and his teammate.

“No, I think we had a little discussion at the time, it happens,” said De Bruyne.

“There’s nothing wrong, after on minute then it’s over.”

“I think at home I also get into some arguments with my wife, I think it’s normal.”

“I think it’s necessary. But now everything is okay.”

“It’s just what happens sometimes, you have a collision of words, there was nothing big about it.”
