Di Marzio Names City Star As One Of 3 Premier League Defenders Who Serie A Giants Could Try And Sign This Month

Manchester City centre-back Nathan Ake is being pursued by AC Milan, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Rossoneri have failed to reach an agreement with Lille over signing Sven Botman and Di Marzio claims the Serie A club have now set their sights on Ake, as well as Manchester United’s Eric Bailly and Chelsea’s Malang Sarr:

“Bailly, Ake and Sarr have been proposed and evaluated, who are not playing as much at their clubs. They have pros and cons, maybe they don’t have specific characteristics that Milan loves but, at the moment, they are three of the names on which Milan is evaluating.”

Ake cost City £41m in the summer of 2020 and, while he hasn’t had the impact many would have expected, the Dutchman is still a part of Pep Guardiola’s plans.

Milan may well have a better chance of securing the signature of Bailly. The United defender is said to be unhappy with his lack of game time at Old Trafford and he may be prepared to leave during the January transfer window. Sarr, meanwhile, has been playing regularly for Chelsea recently with the Blues having suffered a number of injuries at the back over the festive period.
