Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard has named Manchester City’s Kyle Walker as one of the toughest defenders he has faced in his career.
The former Chelsea star admitted that the England international was both quicker and stronger than him, making the fullback a very difficult opponent to get the better of:
“Kyle Walker. He’s strong and fast you know. I am strong and fast but he was stronger than me and faster than me. As a right back, he is one of the best at the moment.”
Hazard’s remarks won’t come as a surprise to City supporters who have seen Walker’s excellent defensive qualities up close for many years.
While he doesn’t always get the plaudits that other right-backs such as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Reece James receive, his all-round game means he is up there with the very best in the business.
In his heyday, when he was playing at his peak, many have claimed that Hazard was unplayable, but it seems Walker left a lasting impression on him. The City defender rarely lost out in individual duels with the Belgian, and that is quite a feat considering how deadly the ex-Chelsea player could be with the ball at his feet.
