Ederson Makes Vow As City Look To Break Their Champions League Duck

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson says the club are going all out to win the Champions League this season.

The Citizens came close to winning a couple of years ago when they lost out to Chelsea in the final but Ederson believes the squad are “capable” of going one step further:

“We’ve been trying [to win it] and will carry on trying. This year, we’re more than capable of getting to the final and challenging for the title. We’re a group of great quality and that shows how much the club has developed over the last five or six years, with Premier League titles, League Cups, FA Cups, Community Shields.”

“This title is what the club needs, it’s what we athletes need and it’s what Guardiola needs here at the club, too. This year we’re going to try, we’re going after it.”

From Ederson’s remarks, it’s clear that he’s desperate to win it for himself, his teammates and his manager, after a number of near misses.

It’s the one title missing in the Manchester club’s trophy cabinet, but winning the competition is very difficult. Not only are you going up against the best teams in Europe, there is also an element of chance involved due to the knockout round format.

Over the course of a 38-game season, Pep Guardiola’s side have proven time and time again that they are the top club in England, but to be the top team in Europe, they may need a little bit of luck on their side.
