Manchester City Vincent Kompany’s winning goal against Leicester City will go down in club folklore if the Citizens seal the Premier League title this season.
The strike midway through the second half was unexpected, to say the least, and before the shot, a lot of players, as well as the fans, were hoping the City captain would opt against shooting from range.
One of those was Raheem Sterling who captioned his expression just before Kompany unleashed the thunderbolt:
My face screaming “NOOOO VINNY WHY U DO THIS” so hard ??? what a hit boi !!! Captain Incredible ? @VincentKompany pic.twitter.com/Ba6WKyPdg3

Fans on Twitter were glad that the City captain decided to ignore all the doubts:
Everyone’s glad ke didn’t listen to you !

With manager Pep Guardiola even admitting after the game that he wanted Kompany to pass, it’s fair to say that the defender was in the minority of one who thought it was a good idea at the time.
His decision to hit the shot could well prove to be the defining moment in this incredible title race. City face Brighton away while Liverpool host Wolves at Anfield on the final day.
