Fabrizio Romano Confirms City’s Attempts To Sign Aguero’s Replacement Have Been “Blocked”

Manchester City’s attempts to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland have been “blocked” according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing in his column for CBS Sports, the Italian journalist says the Citizens have made no progress in trying to persuade Dortmund into selling the Norwegian international.

Haaland is being eyed as a potential replacement for Sergio Aguero, and the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are also believed to be interested in signing the 20-year-old. However, it seems a transfer this summer is looking unlikely.

The Citizens aren’t just looking at Haaland, though. Romano reports that Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku has been considered but a bid for the 27-year-old is fraught with difficulty, with his club not looking to sell.

It is believed that, in addition to a striker, a new midfielder and a left-back will be on the agenda when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.
