FIVE Players With The Most Hat Tricks In Premier League History

In today’s post, we will be looking at some of the most prolific scorers of the Premier League era.

Bagging three goals in one game is no mean feat, especially when you are playing in, arguably, the most difficult top-flight league in the world.

Unsurprisingly, all five names on this list are legends of English football, and two have even made it to double figures when it comes to earning the match ball.

Press the next page as we count down the players with the most hat tricks in Premier League history.

5) Thierry Henry – 8

The Frenchman was a truly scary player to come up against in his prime. He possessed the lot: speed, skill, finishing ability and excellent movement.

For that reason, the fact that Henry scored eight hat-tricks is not a surprise, and it could have been even more even if he hadn’t left Arsenal for Barcelona.

4) Michael Owen – 8

The striker had fifteen seasons at the highest level in English football and he scored double figures in over half of them.

Owen’s best spell was undoubtedly between 1997 and 2004 when he was at Liverpool, but his last hat-trick came when he returned to England with Newcastle, scoring three in a 4-2 win over West Ham.

3) Robbie Fowler – 9

Labelled “God” by fans of Liverpool, Fowler was widely regarded as one of the most natural finishers of the Premier League era. That was borne out by the number of hat tricks he scored.

Like Owen, though, Fowler was at his best in his early years as a player, and he didn’t actually score a hat-trick again after 2001, despite spending six more seasons in the top flight.

2) Alan Shearer – 11

The Premier League’s all-time top scorer was always going to feature pretty high on this list, but you do have to remind himself that he scored most of his goals for pretty average Newcastle teams.

Shearer reached 20 league goals on SEVEN different occasions during his illustrious career, with hat-tricks coming against the likes of Tottenham and West Ham.

1) Sergio Aguero – 12

The Manchester City legend bagged TWO hat tricks against Chelsea and one versus Arsenal during his decade-long spell at the Etihad.

Players rarely score more than one in a game against high profile opponents but Aguero had the ability to rip apart any defence in the Premier League.
