FIVE Premier League Youngsters Who Could Save Their Clubs Millions

In today’s article, we will be looking at some of the promising young players coming through the ranks at Premier League academies.

You have to be exceptionally talented to make an impact at senior level in England’s top flight but there are plenty of starlets with the potential to establish themselves in the first team.

In fact, some of them could even save their clubs millions if they progress all the way to being regular starters.

Press the next page as we look at the youngsters who could make their breakthrough in the Premier League over the next twelve to eighteen months.

Ben Doak (Liverpool)

The Scottish youth international joined the Reds from Celtic in July last year.

Despite only being at the club for a short period of time, though, Doak has already made five senior appearances, with manager Jurgen Klopp very impressed with the teenager’s ability.

He is a left-footed winger so, if he continues on the same trajectory, there is a possibility that he could replace Mo Salah in the first team.

Carlos Borges (Manchester City)

The Portuguese Under 19 international has impressed in every competition he has played in for City at youth level this campaign.

For the Under 21s, Borges has been firing in the goals, both in Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy, while he has also excelled for the Under 19s in the UEFA Youth League.

City do lack out-and-out wingers and, with manager Pep Guardiola having shown that he is willing to bring youngsters through, Borges could be the next one to get his senior debut.

Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United)

The midfielder hasn’t set the world alight with his performances at youth level for United this season (he has just two goals and two assists in Premier League 2), but manager Erik ten Hag is a massive fan.

Mainoo was handed his first-team debut against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup back in January, and he has also had cameos in the FA Cup and Premier League.

The 17-year-old is a natural ball carrier, and he is confident in tight spaces, so he could be deployed as part of United’s midfield two more frequently in the future.

Oscar Bobb (Manchester City)

The Norwegian has racked up 15 assists for the Under 21s and Under 19s this campaign and his ability to play in multiple positions makes him a great asset.

Bobb may not be quite ready for first-team action yet, but if he continues to be so creative at youth level, Guardiola may well give him a chance in the senior setup.

Kevin De Bruyne is not getting any younger so a new playmaker could be needed in the not-too-distant future. Whether Bobb has the ability to reach those heights, though, it remains to be seen.

Gabriel Slonina (Chelsea)

The Blues signed the 18-year-old from Chicago Fire last summer before loaning him back to the MLS team.

Slonina arrived back at Cobham in January and he is currently keeping goal for the Under 21s, despite being a fully-fledged international already.

With Chelsea poised to sell Edouard Mendy and/or Kepa Arrizabalaga at the end of the season, it will be interesting to see whether Potter looks to Slonina as an option.
