Former stars congratulate City on Carabao Cup victory

A host of ex-Manchester City stars have taken to Twitter to congratulate their former side on winning the Carabao Cup.

Pep Guardiola’s side marched to their first trophy of the season in resounding style on Sunday, thrashing a lacklustre Arsenal 3-0 at Wembley.

Sergio Aguero opened the scoring early on after latching onto a long ball from keeper Claudio Bravo before lobbing Petr Cech.

Veteran defender Vincent Kompany added the second after 58 minutes, before another of the club’s old guard, David Silva, completed the scoring seven minutes later.

The trophy was Pep Guardiola’s first in English football since taking charge of the Citizens in the summer of the 2016, and the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona man said it was a special moment to see his side scoop their first trophy.

“It is important to win this trophy because our supporters are so happy,” said Pep.

“I’m happy for our fans, for my staff, for the players and for Sheikh Mansour and our Chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak.”

He concluded: “This win is not for me, it’s for Manchester City.”

Following the victory, a plethora of the club’s former stars, including ex-manager Roberto Mancini, took to social media to share their congratulations ….

Even some of the old Arsenal stars couldn’t help but express their admiration …
