Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko is closing in on signing a new contract with the club, according to reports.
The Ukrainian has been in excellent form this season, prompting reports that manager Pep Guardiola won’t seek out a new left-back during the summer.
Fans on Twitter believe Zinchenko fully deserves a new deal if he gets one:

Absolutely nothing but respect for this guy, would of been a reg at wolves but he wanted to stay, kept his head down and reaped the rewards

Excellent news. Totally a Pep player. Cheerful about the place, takes his job seriously, worked hard to develop himself in a new position on the pitch. Oh, and talented and composed. Well deserved and a very popular player because of his determination to make it at City.

Thoroughly deserved. Never complained about lack of game time just got his head down and worked very hard. Looks great at left back especially seeing as he’s naturally an attacking midfielder.

Zinchenko has been somewhat of a revelation at fullback this season, having become a more than able replacement for the injured Benjamin Mendy.
Having started his career as a midfielder, Guardiola initially used the 22-year-old in defence as emergency cover, but he has begun to learn the position over the course of the campaign.
Considering he could have left for Wolves last summer, it has been a swift turnaround in fortunes for Zinchenko over the past year.
The Ukrainian has made 26 appearances in all competitions, having almost exclusively started as a left-back during that time.
