Gabriel Jesus denies contract talks at City

Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus has set the Premier League alight following his move to the Etihad. The Brazilian international is one of the highest rated youngsters in the game, and has scored 12 goals in 19 appearances since joining from Palmeiras in January.

At certain points this season the striker has kept even Sergio Aguero out of the City line-up, and there has been a lot of speculation recently that says he could be in line for a new bumper contract.

However, despite reports of a new deal, the Brazilian youngster claims to know nothing about a proposed deal, saying ‘it does not exist’.

When asked about a new contract, the forward said: “It does not exist. I don’t know anything about it. Nothing came to me yet.”

“City did not talk to me about it, neither my agent. So there is nothing in process. My focus is to help Manchester City.”

Jesus was not part of the Premier League XI that thrashed Crystal Palace 5-0 at the weekend, and was also substituted before the hour mark in City’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday. But the youngster is keeping his feet on the ground, and knows it is not easy to hold a place down in a City side that is bursting with talent.

“If one player is in a better moment, I have to respect that,” he added. “I’m really okay with that, I accept it.”

“If I’m not playing well and deserve to be on the bench, that’s it, and it happens with any player here.”

“Pep is doing a great work here, using a lot of players in the squad and every player is helping Manchester City, that’s the most important thing.”
