Gabriel Jesus hailed ‘the next Ronaldo’

Manchester City starlet Gabriel Jesus has been hailed as the new Ronaldo by his Brazilian teammate Dani Alves.

Jesus has been sensational since joining City from Palmeiras earlier this year, scoring an impessive 14 goals in 20 games.

Alves, now playing for Paris St Germain, believes that the the 20-year-old can now be as good as former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid star Ronaldo.

It’s a bold statement by Alves, with Ronaldo being widely regarded as one of the best players ever in his prime, but with Jesus likely to lead the line for Brazil during the 2018 World Cup, perhaps there it is a statement that will come true.

“I wasn’t joking when I called Gabriel the new Ronaldo. They have a similar drive. He’s already great, and will get even better,” said Alves.

“For all that he’s done, all that he has achieved, there is no pressure on Gabriel. He’s doing what he loves.

Brazil coach Tite agreed with Alves, and admitted: “City should be very pleased with Palmeiras and the coaches there, who formed a player who is already at such a good level.

“He came to England with natural fluency. He has great mental capacity and technical ability.

“He didn’t need much time to adapt to English football – he was already playing at a very good level.
