Gabriel Jesus: “It’s impossible to be happy” following Liverpool defeat

Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus says it’s “impossible to be happy” following his side’s defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Pep Guardiola’s side were beaten by the Reds for the second time this season when they left Anfield on the end of a 3-0 defeat thanks to first-half goals from Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane.

The defeat was especially hard to swallow for Jesus however, who was celebrating his birthday.

“I was very happy because of my birthday, but it lasted until the game began,” he said.

“Now the happiness is gone. It is impossible to keep the same feeling after such a bad result. On top of that, it was one of my worst performances.

“I could not find spaces and not even shoot. It is impossible to be happy with that.”

City were unable to grab what would have been a crucial away goal on the night, however Jesus insists the tie is far from over.

Jesus scored twice in a 5-0 against Liverpool earlier in the season, and the Brazil international believes both me and his side can repeat that feat when they meet Jurgen Klopp’s side again on Tuesday night.

“It is tough. We know Liverpool quality and we respect it, but we have already scored goals at home against them,” the forward added.

“It is not irreversible. If we play the football we know, we are totally capable of go through. I am very upset with what happened.”
