Gabriel Jesus Makes Claim About His City Future Amid Arsenal Rumours

Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus says he doesn’t want to think about his future at the club beyond the end of the season.

Multiple sources suggest that Arsenal are planning a move for the Brazilian international, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta keen to be reunited with the player he coached during his time as assistant at the Etihad. However, when asked about his plans, Jesus said he is keen to focus on winning titles with City:

“This is no time to think about this. Now is the best moment of the season. I want to enjoy, to keep focused on my team, with my teammates, to fight for the Premier League. I won it with my teammates three times. And I know how that feels and I want to have that feeling again. And then of course we also have the tough game on Tuesday against Real Madrid and that is my focus.”

While some have suggested that the arrival of Erling Haaland would limit Jesus’s game time, that is not necessarily true. The 25-year-old has spent a lot of the season playing as a winger, and he could actually get MORE minutes if he stays.

Neither Riyad Mahrez nor Raheem Sterling have signed new contracts and, with their current deals expiring in 2023, both could well move on in the summer. Jesus is in a similar situation, but he is the youngest of the three, so manager Pep Guardiola may want to keep him for longer.
