BBC pundit Garth Crooks has included Manchester City trio Rico Lewis, Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez in his ‘Team of the Week.’
All three players starred in the Citizens’ win over Bournemouth at the weekend, with Crooks singling out Lewis for special praise:
“This kid is a very impressive young man. Not only is Lewis playing in a top-class team at 18, but the way he handles what are all big occasions when you play for Manchester City these days, is outstanding.”
As Crooks mentions, Lewis is playing well beyond his years and, if he continues on his current trajectory, it’s scary to think how good he could become under Pep Guardiola‘s tutelage in the coming seasons.
In terms of the rest of the eleven that Crooks selected, he went with Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez in goal, with Tottenham’s Cristian Romero and Manchester United centre-half Lisandro Martinez joining Lewis in a back three.
West Ham’s Declan Rice, Aston Villa playmaker Emi Buendia and Manchester United’s Casemiro were named alongside Foden in midfield.
The front three was comprised of Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard, West Ham’s Danny Ings and Alvarez.
