Gary Neville Claims Premier League Title Race Would Already Be Done And Dusted If One Transfer Had Happened

Gary Neville firmly believes that Manchester City would have already sewn up the title this season if they had finalised the transfer of Tottenham’s Harry Kane over the summer.

The Citizens continue to be excellent going forward but they have lacked the cutting edge that a prolific goalscorer could provide. Neville feels the addition of Kane would have made Pep Guardiola’s side unstoppable:

“If Manchester City had Harry Kane, I’m telling you now, then this league is done. It’s done. Forget his form at Spurs, the league would be done.”

We shall see what happens in the January transfer window. While many feel the deal for Kane is dead, there is still a possibility that a move for the 28-year-old could be revived.

Alternatively, City could consider a swoop for another forward. Reports in recent days have linked the Manchester club with Benfica’s Darwin Nunez, after the Uruguayan’s excellent start to the campaign.

Most journalists, though, say a new number nine may only be snapped up next summer, with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland expected to be a key target.
