Manchester City are very tempted to shell out on Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly now their Champions League ban has been lifted, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper reports that there is “growing belief” that the Citizens will spend big on the 29-year-old, who could now be available for £65m.

Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis has previously insisted that Koulibaly won’t be sold for less than €100m (£90m) but it appears his stance has changed.

Liverpool and Manchester United have also been mentioned as possible destinations for the Senegalese international but their need for a centre-half is far less urgent than City’s.

Pep Guardiola’s side were reportedly holding off on their spending plans until the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)’s verdict had been announced. Now, they feel they are free to splash the cash again with Koulibaly said to be one of three major signings the Manchester club will make this summer.
