‘Guaranteed To Be Fit For Liverpool’ ‘100% Expect Him To Start’ City Fans Respond As Guardiola Provides Key Injury Update

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has remained coy on whether striker Sergio Aguero will be fit to face Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The Argentinian international has been sidelined after picking up a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw against West Ham last month and while Guardiola feels the forward should be back after the next international break, he’s not sure whether he’ll be back any earlier:

“He’s getting better but I don’t know. We don’t want him to have a setback but he’s getting better. I don’t know about Liverpool but I think for sure after the international break he will be ready.”

It would be a massive boost if Aguero could make it back for such a huge game and fans on Twitter have been scrutinising Guardiola’s comments with many expecting the club’s talisman to feature next weekend:

Guardiola will be mindful about not risking the 32-year-old’s fitness, considering his recent hamstring problem is likely the result of playing too much, too soon following several months out with a knee injury.

Even if Aguero doesn’t make the matchday squad, City should have another option available anyway in Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian has only had one training session and may miss the Champions League game against Olympiakos tomorrow night but he should be ready for the clash versus Liverpool.
