Guardiola Confirms City Will Enter Transfer Market For New Fullback

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that the club are considering a move for a new defender.

The Citizens have just one natural left-back in the first-team squad in Benjamin Mendy, with the likes of Fabian Delph and Oleksandr Zinchenko filling in when required.

The knee injuries that Mendy has suffered over the past two seasons, though, have meant that City have had to rely on makeshift fullbacks and Guardiola admits they are looking at possible new recruits on the left-hand side of defence:

“We survived well last season, this season too, but we are thinking about that, yeah I cannot assure you as I’m delighted with the players I have and at the end of the season we are going to decide. But we are going to look at both options [holding midfield and left back] on the table.”

Whether the Manchester club will look to make a new addition during the January transfer window or at the end of the current campaign, it isn’t known but you can likely get some decent offers if you fancy a flutter on what deals City will do by using a Ladbrokes promo code when you place your bet.

Mendy is close to being fully fit two months after surgery on his left knee, although he won’t feature against Huddersfield tomorrow. Once he is back in the fold, the Premier League champions will be hoping he can stay fit for the remainder of the season.
