Guardiola Drops Hint Over Whether He’ll Unleash Aguero Against Chelsea

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has suggested he may not pick Sergio Aguero to start against Chelsea in the Champions League final.

The 32-year-old is now fit and firing, after scoring in two of his last four matches, but Guardiola claims there is no room for sentiment when it comes to choosing his best eleven for the biggest game in the club’s history:

“I would say I would be cold. If Sergio is fit he is going to help us, that is for sure. If he is going to help us score goals he is going to play, but it’s the final of the Champions League.”

Everything suggests that Guardiola will continue to deploy the false nines which have led them to the final, and it seems Aguero may have to be satisfied with a place on the bench.

Even so, there could still be a fairytale ending to the City star’s career. It’s likely to be a very tight affair when they face Chelsea, and you wouldn’t bet against the Argentine coming on as a substitute for the final 20 minutes and popping up with a winning goal. That would certainly be some send-off for the club legend.
