Guardiola Gives Six-Word Reply To Question About City’s Potential Transfer Ban

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says the club have a strong enough squad to cope if FIFA hands them a transfer ban.

Reports have suggested that the Citizens could be banned from buying players for the next two transfer windows due to breaching rules about signing underage players.

When asked about the possible sanction, Guardiola gave a short response:

“The squad’s good. It’s really good.”

The depth of City’s squad means they could cope without any new signings over the next year. It could also allow younger players from the academy a chance to play in the first team.

As things stand, FIFA have not found City guilty of breaching any rules but if they do, they could find themselves in the same situation as Chelsea.

The London club were expecting their two-window transfer ban to be lifted during their appeal against FIFA’s decision but, unlike in the past, football’s governing body is now keeping bans in place to ensure clubs are punished.
