Manchester City attacking midfielder Jack Grealish has revealed that he took Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka to task for a recent challenge.
The pair are close friends off the pitch and after joining up for England duty this week, Grealish said he asked Saka about an incident during City’s 3-1 win over the Gunners last month:
“He’s a great lad, Bukayo. In the game the other week, I went past someone and then me and him went shoulder to shoulder. I thought, ‘he [the referee] has got to give it as a foul’ because I can’t have Bukayo saying that he bodied me. I pulled him up on that this morning and he said it was never a foul!”
As Grealish points out, while the two are very much rivals on the pitch for their clubs, they appear to have no issues putting that to the side when they are called up for their country.
City will face Arsenal in a massive top-of-the-table clash at the end of April, but they have no less than seven fixtures before that game.
Pep Guardiola’s men take on Liverpool at home right after the international break. They then face Southampton, Leicester and Brighton in the league, as well as having to play an FA Cup tie against Sheffield United, and two legs of their Champions League quarter-final versus Bayern Munich.
