“He Probably Wouldn’t…” Danny Murphy Gives Surprising Reason Why Jude Bellingham Could Turn Down City Switch

Manchester City may lose out on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham if the player is keen on playing every single match, according to talkSPORT pundit Danny Murphy.

The Citizens are believed to be interested in signing the 19-year-old next summer, along with Chelsea and Liverpool, but Murphy says that he may not even get into Pep Guardiola’s starting lineup if he moved to the Etihad:

“Would he get in any team [in the Premier League? At the moment I don’t think he would get in every team, no. So I think for him it’s a case of, does he want to go and play every week? Probably, because he’s used to playing. Or, does he want to go somewhere where he’s part of something growing?… The difference is if he went to City, for example, you could argue at the minute that he probably wouldn’t play.”

Murphy is very much off base with these remarks. For starters, Bellingham is likely to cost in excess of £100m and what club would spend that much money just to put them on the bench?

Guardiola has already praised Bellingham on more than one occasion, stating how much he admires the teenager, so he would clearly play him on a regular basis.

Of course, he would have to compete with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva for starts but he’d learn a lot by playing alongside both players. Murphy’s argument doesn’t really stand up to scrutiny.
