Henry Backing Manchester City To Make Double Swoop Worth 300M

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry is convinced that Manchester City have the spending power to sign BOTH Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe this summer.

It was recently revealed that Borussia Dortmund will demand €150m (£128.5m) for Haaland, while reports last month valued Mbappe at €200m (£171.4m), despite the fact that the Frenchman is closing in on the final twelve months of his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.

When asked for his opinion on whether City should pursue either Haaland or Mbappe, Henry was adamant that the club could afford to sign the pair:

“If I’m Man City, I’d go for both because I think they might handle that. No, seriously, the truth: I think they’re different strikers. What happened to playing with two strikers?”

Financial Fairplay rules would probably make such a double swoop impossible but, even if they overcame that obstacle, there are other factors. Haaland is also being pursued by Manchester United and Chelsea, while Mbappe has been linked with both Real Madrid and Liverpool, so there is a lot of competition that the Citizens would have to beat, even if they were considering a sensational double deal.
