Manchester City could make an official offer for Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli very soon, according to reports in the Italian media.

The 23-year-old has also been linked with Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea in recent days, and supporters on Twitter want the Citizens to beat their rivals to the Italian international’s signature:

It is believed that Sassuolo will demand around €40m (£34m) for Locatelli, which shouldn’t be a problem for City. Whether they will make a formal approach in the coming days and weeks, though, it is open for debate.

The Manchester club’s priorities are thought to be a new striker and an attacking midfielder, so it doesn’t seem like a bid for Locatelli is currently top of the agenda.

There is no doubt that the Italian is a top-quality player, but manager Pep Guardiola does have a wealth of options in the middle of the park so signing someone like Locatelli isn’t a pressing concern.
