Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri has made a statement regarding his future, following reports linking him with a move away from the club.
Speaking about whether he has decided to leave the Spanish side, the 22-year-old said he is yet to make up his mind:
“I asked the club [Atletico Madrid] to give me space. It would be hypocritical to say that I can guarantee anything. The only thing I can say is I have a contract with Atletico. I have a clause and conditions and today I am happy here… I can’t say anything else because I do not know what’s going to happen.”
Fans on Twitter are not sure what to make of the comments:

Manchester City are reportedly willing to trigger Rodri’s €70million (£62m) release clause with Pep Guardiola’s side seeing him as the ideal long-term replacement for Fernandinho.
However, the Citizens are not the only club said to be interested in the Spanish international. Reports in Spain suggest Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are all prepared to pay the player’s buyout fee.
Rodri only joined Atletico from Villarreal for £18m last July, but he has quickly established himself as a first team player at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Last campaign, the midfielder made 47 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and contributing one assist.
