Manchester City and Manchester United are both weighing up moves for Tottenham holding midfielder Harry Winks, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.
The Citizens will be looking to strengthen in the middle of the park in the summer and the 23-year-old is said to be on the club’s radar. Supporters on Twitter are highly sceptical about the merits of bidding for the England international:
i’d rather play Ederson at midfield than sign this guy wtf

Not bad. He’s stagnated at Spurs in his development & can’t see him being a starter for Jose. Maybe it would be a good move for both parties.

Winks has been on the periphery somewhat since Jose Mourinho was brought in to replace Mauricio Pochettino as Spurs manager. The midfielder has started just three of the last nine league games.
He is neat and tidy on the ball, although his two goals and two assists in 122 appearances for Tottenham does suggest he lacks an end product.
Manager Pep Guardiola does, however, like players who can fit into his system, and he may feel Winks could do a job, perhaps as a squad player. Alternatively, it may simply be the case that City are seeking a signing who can increase their homegrown quota.
