Following Manchester City’s announcement that manager Pep Guardiola has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the Etihad until 2023, it has led to more talk among the fanbase about the club signing Lionel Messi.
Reports yesterday indicated that the Citizens could well snap up the 33-year-old for less than £50m in the January transfer window and, with Guardiola signing on the dotted line, supporters on Twitter are now convinced the Barcelona superstar will make the switch to England:

With City having seriously considered making an approach for Messi in the summer, it seems likely that another attempt could be made in the New Year. The Manchester club will have two options available to them.
Either they make a bid to Barca to bring him in midway through the season or they could sign Messi up to a pre-contract agreement, allowing him to join on a free transfer in the summer when his current deal expires.
