‘It’s A Smokescreen’ ‘If We Buy, We Buy!’ ‘No Need To’ Fans Discuss City’s Plans To Replace Sterling

Manchester City have yet to make a decision on whether they will replace Raheem Sterling, according to reports in the UK.

With the 27-year-old making the switch to Chelsea, there was an expectation that the Premier League champions would go back into the market to strengthen in wide areas.

However, a move for Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry was played down earlier this week, leaving some supporters disappointed. The former Arsenal player has also been attracting interest from Manchester United and Liverpool as he is in the final year of his contract. However, fans on Twitter have been discussing whether there is a real need to bring in another winger:

Cole Palmer is definitely someone who could take advantage of Sterling’s departure but it would be asking a lot of him to take on so much responsibility so quickly.

It will be hoped that Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez can pick up most of the slack in terms of goals but, even so, manager Pep Guardiola will have less flexibility without Sterling. We shall see if a potential target emerges to strengthen the forward line before the transfer window closes.
