Ex-Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp still believes Manchester City will beat Arsenal to the title this season.
Speaking before his former team beat the reigning champions on Sunday, Redknapp said his instincts tell him that Pep Guardiola’s side will “rally” and chase down the Gunners:
“I’ve still got a feeling Man City are gonna win it, I think they’re gonna come with a rally and pip them. But it’s gonna be tight. Arsenal are gonna take some catching, but the one team you don’t want chasing you down is Man City! If it was anyone else chasing them I’d say, ‘yeah fine’, but they’re so dangerous.”
The Citizens had the perfect opportunity to close the gap after Arsenal lost to Everton, but they failed to take advantage with a rather limp display at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
While there are still only five points separating the clubs, the Gunners have a game in hand, so the clash between the two teams later this month could well be a defining moment in the title race.
City are not as consistent as previous seasons and Guardiola has made worrying remarks about the attitude of some players in the first-team squad which raises more questions about their ability to put pressure on Arsenal. There will, however, be plenty more twists and turns between now and May.
