Jamie Carragher Claims City Will Never Sell To Arsenal Again After Making 30M Transfer Mistake

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher says he cannot see Manchester City selling a player to Arsenal again in the future.

The Premier League champions allowed both Gabriel Jesus (£45m) and Oleksandr Zinchenko (£30m) to join the Gunners last summer, but Carragher says it is the performances of the Ukrainian that may stop Pep Guardiola‘s side from agreeing to any further transfers:

“I don’t think Pep Guardiola and Man City will ever sell a player to Arsenal ever again. I reason I think they sold him is because his mate was at Arsenal and he didn’t see Arsenal as a threat.”

Zinchenko has been outstanding since moving to the Emirates, playing in the inverted fullback role, and his form will be even more galling for City supporters, considering the club’s problems on the left-hand side of defence.

The Ukrainian international’s departure, (plus the decision to let Joao Cancelo join Bayern Munich on loan) has left the team light of options in a key area of the pitch. As Carragher says, the Citizens really only have themselves to blame, having strengthened one of their rivals whilst weakening themselves at the same time.
