The Footballer Writers’ Association have handed Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson their Footballer of the Year award, with the likes of Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne having been looked over for the accolade.
Considering the Belgian has scored 11 goals and provided 19 assists this season, City supporters on Twitter are not best pleased that the midfielder has been snubbed:

On paper, it looks like a ‘no contest’ but sentiment from journalists does play an important part in the voting. Hopefully, the players themselves will look at De Bruyne’s astonishing season and vote for him to be the PFA Player of the Year.
It is been a major bone of contention that some of City’s players have been overlooked for individual awards in recent years, despite their incredible success on the pitch.
De Bruyne is currently odds-on favourite for the PFA prize, but it remains to be seen whether his fellow professionals will favour him above Henderson and the other candidates.
