Jorginho deal close after agent’s comments

Manchester City are on the verge of completing a deal for Jorginho, according to the player’s agent.

The Italian has been linked with a move to City all summer, with Pep Guardiola hopeful of securing the midfielder’s signature prior to the start of the World Cup, something which didn’t happen as talks continue to rumble on.

However, after weeks of negotiations, it seems as if the deal could be nearing completion after the player’s agent Joao Santos’ most recent comments.

Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss, Santos said: “Manchester City are working to close the deal with Napoli – any moment could be the right one. The player is in Brazil.

“I’m in my house in England, waiting for a call from [sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli or [owner Aurelio] De Laurentiis. When it arrives, I will go to meet the leadership of Manchester City.”

It is believed that Guardiola is only after two signings this summer, with Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez and Jorginho the only players deemed necessary to bolster their title winning squad.

A deal for Jorginho has been in the pipeline for a number of weeks now, and with his agents latest comments, a deal is surely nearing completion.
