Journalist Suggests La Liga Giants Will Try And “Convince” City With 60M Bid For Midfielder

Barcelona are hoping to negotiate down the price that Manchester City have set for midfielder Bernardo Silva, according to Gerard Romero.

The Spanish journalist believes that Barca would need to “convince” sporting director Txiki Begiristain and manager Pep Guardiola to let the Portuguese international leave for €65m (£55.6m) to €70m (£60m) plus bonuses:

Reports have suggested that City would want at least £80m for Silva, so it seems very unlikely that the Premier League champions would be interested in doing a deal with Barcelona.

The Catalan club may well be able to free up some funds if they do offload Frenkie de Jong. However, his move to Manchester United appears to have stalled, and there has been speculation that Chelsea could even hijack the deal for the Dutchman.

It’s safe to say that, if de Jong’s departure from the Camp Nou is not secured, there is no way that Barca would be able to meet Silva’s asking price.
